Preparing Students for a Changing World
Narembeen District High School
For the Parents
Not only is your child's health and wellbeing extremely important to us but we also value the contributions that you as parents and carers make towards your child's education. This page will allow you access to documents to help you navigate your way through the school year.

Term Dates
Click HERE to view the WA Public School Term Dates on the WA Department of Education website.

PLEASE NOTE: THESE DATES ARE NOT INCLUSIVE OF SDD DAYS - THESE ARE OUTLINED IN PARENT HANDBOOKS.

Arriving at School
Children can arrive at school between 8.30-8.50am. The School day begins at 8.50am.

-
As teachers commence duties at 8.30am, students should arrive after this time in the morning. Parents of students who arrive before 8.30am will be contacted as the safety of students cannot be guaranteed before teachers commence.
-
Bicycles may not be ridden in the school grounds. All bicycles brought to school are to be placed in the bike racks. Children are required to wear a helmet when riding to and from school. Students riding to school without a helmet will not be able to ride their bikes home, they must be walked home.
-
Mobile phones ARE NOT to be used at school. If a student brings a mobile phone to school, it is to be handed into the front office before school and collected at the end of the day. It is a red infringement in our behaviour management policy.
-
iPods or electronic toys and other personal toys or valuables are not to be brought to school.
-
The school grounds are out of bounds to all students outside school hours. Students are not to leave the school grounds without permission. This is a red infringement on our Behaviour Management Policy

The school bus service is provided by the Public Transport Authority. This authority has strict guidelines and policy regarding student behaviour whilst travelling on school buses. Parents that require a bus must apply online at www.schoolbuses.wa.gov.au.

Lunch
Your child will need to bring a snack for morning recess and food for lunch. Please let your child know which food is for his/her morning recess and what is for lunch. Healthy eating is important at any age. Please provide your child with healthy meals and save ‘treats’ for home or special occasions such as birthdays.

Children in Year's 1-10 will also have crunch and sip in the afternoon, they can eat a piece of fruit or a vegetable during this time.

During Term 2 and 3 (Winter Months) we have pie warmers available so children can bring a hot lunch (no microwave facilities).

On Mondays and Fridays children also have the opportunity to buy lunch from the Co-op cafe. A menu is available here and orders can be dropped into the yellow lunch tin at the school office in the morning with the money.

We also have 'special' days where children learn about different foods, lunch is provided in the classroom on these days. Your child's teacher will let you know when these are happening.

Absences & Leave
Parents must notify the school office of any absences from school, these must contain a ‘reasonable reason’ for the absence as required by the Department of Education regulations.

Students leaving the school grounds during the day require a permission letter from their parent/guardian and must obtain a Standardised Leave Pass from the school office. They must carry this with them at all times while off-site and hand the leave pass back into the front office when returning to school.

School Assembly
Whole school assemblies are held on various mornings throughout Terms 1 and 3 (you will be notified via Newsletter). The Student Council representatives are responsible for setting up all assemblies, providing them with the opportunity to model leadership skills and develop confidence in public speaking.
Each assembly commences with the acknowledgment to Country, followed by the singing of the Australian National Anthem and The Narembeen Song. A class item is then presented followed by a class report. Each class has the opportunity to do an item/report over the year. Mrs Arnold will then address the assembly with information regarding school activities, sports report updates, and upcoming events. She will then present the Honour Certificates and Mr Arnold will announce Aussie of the Month. Assembly then concludes with the 'Community Karaoke'.

All parents and friends are invited and welcome to attend our whole school assemblies.
